I Want to be Happy
Charmayne Ellis is everything that a lot of people would like to be. Attractive, intelligent, kind hearted, a Christian with a good job.

Charmayne is tired of everyone thinking that she needs a man in her life in order to be complete. Although, she's overweight, she still feels like she should have a man of her choosing. Not that she needs a man to be complete, some companionship would be nice.

The pastor's wife along with her best friend, keep trying to set her up. The men they select are either rejects or haven't had a date in years. They lack in personality, are too old, or just downright ugly. Both, her mother and sister believe that she's a hopeless case, sprouting that, in order to be considered somebody YOU must be married.

Without anyone's assistance, Charmayne meets Travis Moon, a fine, Christian, single, working brother. He's employed at the bank Charmayne manages. At first, she was skeptical about accepting a lunch date because of their working environment, but Charmayne decides against that. Now happy, people are looking at her, as if she has to BUY Travis.

Seeking prayer and guidance from God, Charmayne has asked if Travis is the man for her. God has answered her prayers and she has accepted what the Lord has said but, is she hearing correctly? Are the signs for a GO to marry this strong willed man of God, or to let him go?

Farther Than I meant To Go, Longer Than I Meant To Stay, is a very good book! I highly recommend!!!

I think this is probably one of the few books I have rated 5/5 and that's because it certainly deserves it. Charmayne is an overweight girl in her late 30s, she is single, emotionally detached from her mother and only sister because of their constant negative assertion of her.

Charmayne is surrounded by practicing Christians, she herself is a devout worshipper of Jesus. Accepting pre-marital affairs as sin in her religion, she and her fellow church mates refrain from any such relationships and pray to God for devout husbands.

For Charmayne, there is a low luck when it comes to men particularly because of her outstanding weight but more so because everyone around her emphasize the importance of marriage and press the "guilt" button of being single for so long. Although Charmayne is a successful independent woman, she feels incomplete without a partner in her life. Because of her strained familial relationships and lack of any male companion, she craves love.

She finally finds a fine man that could be a prince fresh from Disney Land but this man changes her life in many ways.

The novel from beginning till the end keeps readers hooked. It narrates events so well as if it were a piece of non-fiction, a true-story. The character of Charmayne is well honed and mature. Although the story has nothing to do directly with the character of the writer, yet I feel immense respect for Tiffany L. Warren for writing it so well and sensibly.

I definitely recommend this book especially to women.

Glass,

Charmayne Ellis loves the Lord and HE loves her. She's an educated woman with a good job. A loving daughter and a great friend, Char finds that she's still lonely at the end of the day. Happy that her best friend, Lynette, is getting married, she can't help but to feel somewhat jealous. It also doesn't help that her best friend is determined to set her up on blind dates that make her believe Lynette herself may be blind.

When Travis Moon, a janitor at Grace Savings and Loan, the bank where she's the president at, comes into her office to repair her chair, she can't help but to marvel at how handsome he is. Surprised, Travis asks her out on a date. Self-conscious about her weight, she feels that Travis is out of her league. As he goes through hoops to prove to her that she's worthy, Char is ignoring all of the other signs as she rushes down the aisle.

As Char is prepared to share her net worth, she discovers that the Travis she married is a fictional character. A farce of a marriage has ruined her reputation and livelihood and Char finds herself spinning out of control. Broken, Char will have to learn to trust GOD at HIS word.

FARTHER THAN I MEANT TO GO, LONGER THAN I MEANT TO STAY by Tiffany L. Warren is a wonderful story. I LOVED how even when the main character is at her weakest point, you can reveal in the wonderment of the Lord.

One of the 1st books I read from Tiffany L Warren and I was hooked. I could relate to the realness of her main character. I hated where the main character went, but I was so glad she found her way back!

I love Tiffany L. Warren. This was sort of a different style of writing, with moving from the past and present and slowly revealing all that had happened. Different but it kept my interest, as I could not wait to finally know all that transpired between Travis and Charmayne.
It is very true that most women (and men) overlook a lot of warning signs when in a relationship that they really want. But God can redeem the time you lost and heal your pain. Good story!

It was an impactful story and remind on how you really have to wait on God & ask him to make things clear. I do wish that charmayne could have spoken up for herself more with her mom and sister. Also, I would have love to see her officially cut ties with travis & find the love God eventually gave to her.

Thought provoking

I started off reluctant to read, but as I continued I realized that I could see relevance in each character. I envisioned this as someone's real life situation somewhere and I couldn't put the book down after that.

Wonderfu!.

Such an impactful story. I related to a lOt. The therapy sessions surprisingly below me too. I even almost felt sorry for Travis. Great author but books are priced too high for my fixed income situation.

The thing I didn’t like about this book was how the heroine lost the weight after all the hell she experienced. I’m not a fan of the lose-weight-then-find-happiness theme because there are deeper issues that should be addressed. The author attempts this by putting the heroine in therapy but it somehow falls flat.

There was also a short novella with the antagonist’s POV and that kind of irritated me. It shifted the blame from him to his mastermind “lover.” You can’t convince me the guy was some mindless goon just doing what he was told. I really wanted to like this book but I didn’t.

I wish I could put this book in the hand of every sister who is naming and claiming that this will be the year that they will get a husband. In this book Charmayne starts out saying she will trust God to send her a husband, however when a fine man gave her some attention and claimed to be in a ministry she stopped listening to God and everyone else who did not agree with her choices. It was not until close to the end of the book that I understood the title of the book, because Charmayne stop trusting God for a husband and took her own path she went further than she meant to go and stayed longer than she intended to on a path that God had not designed for her. Wow, that is deep to me. When we do not trust God to lead us, or trust his timing we will walk on a path that leads to low-level wilderness living.

3.5 This book was really a reflective novel from a woman who was taken to the edge of sanity and brought back with spirituality. Charmayne knew in her heart something just wasn't right with the fine and debonair maintenance worker at the bank she worked. She was president and he asked her out despite their obvious status divide. Travis was what some like to call an "opportunist". I refer to them as "predators" because they prey on women who lack self esteem and tell them whatever it is they know no one else is whispering in their ear. Charmayne has an impressive portfolio and Travis aims to have it. He tells Charmayne that God has chosen her as his wife and being a 36 year old saved virgin, Charmayne chooses to believe that God has sent her the same message. Through therapy, compassion, and eventually forgiveness Charmayne is able to rebound and move forward with her life.

This was the first book I had read by this author and the next time I go to the library I will be looking for more by her. Her style of writing and the storyline itself made the book an easy one to read despite the heaviness of the topics involved. I would have liked to see the story detailed more, maybe the Travis character developed some more to make his deception a little more believable. Overall though, I thought it was a great book.

This book was written from a chapter out of my life. Insecurities can be anything from physical appearance to financial status but not limited to. We can make choices because we want to be accepted. The message is clear and succinct. I recommend anyone who has been on either side of the fence to read this book. Baggage can stop dreams but there is power in forgiveness!!! Amen.

This author gave me a awaking for the word of God. I knew my faith was good with the power of "God's word, but after reading this story I now understand that when he brings you out of a situation it’s because he loves you. If you decide to return to that trail you have to pay the price even if you believe it's in good faith. Great read

This book was good. I could relate to the main character who struggles with weight and romance. It reflects some of the issues faced by women who are faced with self esteem challenges. I would recommend it.

No matter now high up your penacle, you can still be brought low by your own insecurities. The moral of this story is you can still do something good in the world when you've had a great fall. I liked this book very much

It was amazing to see Charmayne's transformation and healing in this book. The references to to the bible were also subtle but so refreshing to read. This was my second time reading this book but I got more from it this time. Excellent read.
