Tina Morton had been water skiing on Lake O' The Pines her whole life. Vivacious and beautiful, she didn't expect to look death in the face today. But in a split second, that's about to change. Powerlifter Joe Rustin is relaxing on the lake shore, when something prompts him to look out over the lake. A wave of horror rolls over Joe. A speeding boat is on a collision course with a dark-haired girl on skis. In a heartbeat, Joe is on his feet and in the water. Immensely muscled, Joe doesn't exactly float, but he knows he will save the beautiful skier or die trying.
This started off so well and the first 3/4 were fantastic. The hero rescues the Heroine from a boating accident (very well written suspense wise) and their romance blossoms beautifully. Joe is a body builder and helps the heroine with her PT recovery. But Joe has a mysterious past that prevents him from getting too close to her. When Heroine asks about this past he gives a story about negilgant father. Fine. Then it's revealed there's a R*APE accusation against him and he was charged in court. His name was cleared because of lack of physical evidence and her other boyfriend put her up to reporting. Everyone 100% believes his ex Shannon and her "evil' other boyfriend set him up. It turns out she was indeed cheating on him, and he admits there might have been some coercion in the sex with his ex. Regardless, heroine stays by his side. BLECH, definitely ruined my feelings for the book.
