This informative and engaging book showcases the landmark historic restoration and adaptation of Samuel Mayo Nickerson's grand 19th-century Chicago residence. The sensitive and meticulous restoration (2003 - 2008) was directed by Dr. M. Kirby Talley, Jr. (art historian, preservationist, and interior design specialist) with architect Joe Antunovich (former Chair of Illinois Landmarks), general contractor Rick Juneau (Vice President, Bulley & Andrews), and over 40 firms and hundreds of specialists in restoration. This extraordinary team executed a beautiful restoration of the Nickerson House and transformed it into the new Richard H. Driehaus Museum. Its lavish interiors, including some objects original to the House, were carefully restored. Significant pieces from the Driehaus Collection of Decorative Arts are appropriately placed throughout, with an emphasis on Tiffany.
