Warner’s stories tend to always be easy five-star books for me (besides making other books I read in the general time frame tend to be more lackluster). Very wordy and atmospheric, and always with a deep Christian lesson to teach. This one, like most of her novels, is based on a factual circumstance from the earlier decades (this sounds like perhaps 1820s). Esther is a delightful heroine and one I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to.
Splendid reading...Sweet, and sprinkled with gentle wisdom all throughout...Thank you so much Susan Warner...So satisfying a read...I recommend it heartily*...
