This book has a tiny hero with a big heart. I absolutely loved this story of a little mouse who wants more not just for himself, but for all mice. It is heartwarming and clever and an absolute joy to read

I originally read this book as a child, when it was still coming out on the RMCA website as a serial (yes, I really have been a life-long fan). I absolutely loved it. Can't recall how I found it (or that the RMCA was a thing) but so glad I did.

From the first, this story gripped me. The writing was good, the illustrations were stellar, and who doesn't love a good fantasy about an underdog fighting for survival?

As the first book in this trilogy, 'The Mouse Knight' can be read as a stand-alone and--compared to the later books in this series--is actually quite a light read. It actually wasn't until I started reading the sequel, 'Squibble's Story' (which was finished well after the third book for reasons that drove my 'everything must be in chronological order' mind wild when I was waiting for it to finish so I could finally read book three) that I realized the whole Mouse Knight saga actually probably wasn't meant for children. But I was too far gone by then, so oh well.

This book inspired me to get my first mouse (who turned into a serial killer because I didn't realize how territorial mice could be), and my first rat (who was sick when I got her and only lasted a few days--they were all intended to be feeder rodents, so the store didn't take good care of them). This book also taught me how to draw mice, rats, and chinchillas (sorry Mr. Hays, I kind of stole your style).

Anyway, seriously love this series, highly recommend it to everyone, and maybe one day I'll pull together enough spare change and buy it all in glorious paper copies as opposed to the online freebies I so enjoyed as a kid.

Thank you, Mr. Hays, for sharing this glorious story with the world.

This book, the mouse knight is a great book to read for entertainment. It is very adventurous and interesting to see where the story goes. The main character, Despero is an abnormal and unique mouse who can read. He uses his ability to read to know further about the world but he is sent to the dark sew where there are nasty rats. There he will try to prove things to get out of the sewer. He shows great bravery and caringness. This story warms our hearts and makes us want to read more and more. I think reading this is definitely worth the time.

I laughed, I cried, I smiled. One of the best books I've read in my life.
