I found it a different story, I enjoyed the unpredictability of the story. But, it was also so frustrating because so often Annabel had to deal with awful men deciding how things would/should go for her. I hoped for redemption for her husband, then I hoped he would leave, once more I hoped for redemption... sigh.

I like realistic stories. I love imperfect leads and I love when things aren’t always perfect. But I dislike how things seemed to ‘happen to her’ and she just sort of sat in that. Granted, that may be historically accurate to the time period.

I picked up and put down this book in frustration so many times. I wanted to love it, but I just didn’t. It felt too hard until the end.
