Darwin, Then and Now: The Most Amazing Story in the History of Science

Rate this book
Darwin, Then and Now is a journey through the most amazing story in the history of science; encapsulating who Darwin was, what he said and what scientists have discovered since the publication of The Origin of Species in 1859. While recognized as one of the most influential individuals of the twentieth century, little is widely known about his personal life, interests, and motivations. This book explores Darwin's driving passion using Darwin's own words from The Origin of Species, Autobiography, Voyage of the Beagle and letters. In retracing the roots of evolution from the Greeks, Darwin, Then and Now journeys through the dynamics of the eighteenth century that lead to the publication of The Origin of Species and the succeeding role of key players in the emerging evolution revolution. Darwin, Then and Now examines Darwin's theory with more than three-hundred quotations from The Origin of Species, spotlighting what Darwin said concerning the origin of species and natural selection using the American Museum of Natural History Darwin exhibit format. With over one-thousand referenced quotations from scientists and historians, Darwin, Then and Now explores the scientific evidence over the past 150 years from the fossil record, molecular biology, embryology, and modern genetics. My name is Richard William Nelson, author of the book Darwin, Then and Now, The Most Amazing Story in the History of Science and blog host.

A Little About Me

While studying biological sciences at the University of California, Irvine, and later graduating with a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California, what was interesting to me was that evolution was taught as fact and credited to Darwin for originating the basic concepts of evolution, but Darwin was rarely ever quoted.

Finding the field of evolution even more intriguing after graduation, I continued investigating the scientific evidence for evolution. As the topic of evolution became even more contested, I became increasingly hooked on exploring the evidence for evolution . Elements of evolution like mutations and drug resistence paralleled my professional clinical pharmacology career. This interest eventually lead to the development of a series of presentations on evolution targeted to the high school, college, and university students. The interest generated from these presentations eventually became the driving motivation to write this book entitled Darwin, Then and Now.

Darwin Then and Now presents the time-line of events, people, and ideas on the history of evolution. With over a century of unprecedented biological research since the publication of The Origin of Species, now is the time to reflect on the scientific evidence of evolution. This blog is a forum for focusing on one of today’s hottest and contentious topics – evolution.

Pathalogical Lying World Record Holder

I know this may seem like hyperbole, but I assure you that it is not. Read the other 1-star reviews and then, be sure to read the comments under them!

Not only is virtually every word of this book intentionally deceptive, so is everything the author posts on the forums. He's been caught at it countless times, often several times in one day. He even messed up and revealed that at least one of the positive reviews is by himself, but using a false identity.

Not only is everything that Nelson generates a lie, quite possibly every one of them is plagiarized from the many sources of anti-evolution propaganda! Note also that he originally tried to deceptively market his book on Amazon as a neutral or pro-science book as well!

Again, I urge you to read the comments under the other negative reviews (at Amazon) for the most astounding serial lying I have ever encountered in my life. Nelson even appears and tries to cover lies with more lies. Even if you don't much care about the subject matter, it's a fascinating peek into the bizarre psychology of this unique breed of fanaticism.
