A robust guide book to Croatia

A new guidebook for 2019. Croatia. This is a good size format, it will slip into bags and pockets and is ring bound which gives it durability.

More that 1000 islands to explore as well as the mainland and some seaside locales are sufficiently upmarket to compete with the established harbours around the Mediterranean.

There is of course a bit of background on the war and it’s really important to have some knowledge of this before visiting – the impressions on the countryside and on the people are still very much in evidence.

As usual with the Marco Polo guides there are Insider Tips which help you to drill down just a little if you are on a first time visit. Naturally once you have found your bearings, you will find your own unique places to explore and wonderful places to eat. The guide is a great place to start.

And it is not just a coastal country, there is plenty to explore inland.

“My Day” offers good ways of spending a day touring and getting and overview, with rough timings and places to stop off and sample the local delicacies.

And as you come to the end, there are 10 reasons to return.

Thorough and pretty expansive. No suggestion of fiction titles set there (unlike the Sicily guide book) but then you know where to come for top titles!!!

This is an attractive guidebook, but it has insufficient cultural information for the serious tourist. Hotel information is ludicrously inadequate. Hardly any restaurants are recommended. The illustrations are good, however, and there is a detailed map.
