What this book is about? Some books are so good that they get so little attention simply because the writer is so knowledgeable that he doesn’t bother much about organizing his ideas.
David has figured “the truth of the neo corporate man” out.
In this book he identifies 67 corporate situations where we need skills to motivate onself or others. Then he is super wise saying that one motivation technique doesn’t fit all. For the sake of simplicity and usability, although not exhaustive he has categorized the corporate man into 4 types based on what motivates them. The name of each type is quite obvious. Then David gives 40 sets of characteristics to determine which type one is and others are. Obviously he gives 67 x 4 = 268 ways to motivate. Multiply this with 2 to 3 case studies in each situations and have approximately 1001 ways to motivate.
The book is so exhaustive and deep that people used to consume “quick motivation fixes” in youtube will call this book “bull-shit”. It is too much thinking required for such poor souls.
Motivation isn’t one size fits all. This book proves this point.
