Italian philosopher. He introduced to Italy the approach to political philosophy of John Rawls, a philosophical point of reference for the non-Marxist left since the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century. His analytical philosophical training, which included methods and questions of the philosophy of language and logic, allowed him to also range into the fields of epistemology and metaphysics, investigating their connections with the field of moral and political philosophy.

In the Italian philosophical debate he has made contributions to themes such as realism, the problem of completeness in epistemic and political theories, global justice and sustainability, welcoming suggestions from the Anglo-Saxon world, reworked with an original style.
