Fascinating, though somewhat difficult read(hence the 4 stars). If there is not yet a movie about John Smith's travels, there very well ought to be!
He tells of his travels from single combat in transylvania to being attacked by privateers, to his time in Virginia, to his time in Brazil, and along also mentions various other topics that he collected information on - pirates, and the coast and nature of Africa coming most to mind.
I enjoyed it greatly as an original document set down by a historical character.

I suppose now I need to learn what historians think of this book. Lots of great adventures… and yet this thrill seeker is rescued by women again and again and again in an era when I’d expect most men to hide such facts. I certainly was entertained
