This book is an easy read for any age in elementary school when wanting to know basic information about the president. It was a basic biography book that didn't go into too much detail to be overwhelming. It also has a nice timeline that runs at the bottom of each page which adds the previous page to the timeline of Obama. At the back of the book there is a summary of the information from the pages of the book and a list of the presidents in order with their years in office. The twin book that I found to go along with this book is Big Plans by Bob Shea and illustrated by Lane Smith. Big Plans is a book about a little boy who wants to let the whole world know his "big plans". It is about a little boy who dreams up all of the things he would do if he ruled the world, much like any little kid who wants to run for school office or even for political office when they grow up. The illustrations are great and the book is hilarious! It makes the perfect twin book.
Nice to see the information presented clearly, yet simply. The addition of a timeline was another informational feature that helps the reader to see the scope of Obama's major life events.
