At age seventeen, Devi Mukherjee worked in the Indian resistance movement with Gandhi. Afterbeing jailed for over five months and then receiving his college degree, Devi began a spiritualquest. His travels took him across India. In Shaped by Saints, Devi invites you to join him on hispilgrimage to visit the saints and realized masters of modern-day India. The book also features many previously unpublished stories of Paramhansa Yogananda.
I can't believe I am the first person to rate this wonderful little book. This book was written by a disciple of the great Indian Avatar, Paramhansa Yogananda. Devi is a very advanced soul himself and recounts his travels throughout India and especially in the Himalayas, meeting many modern Saints. Especially touching are his stories of Anandamoyee Ma, the joy-permeated mother, whom he visited often. I have read this book at least five time, maybe more. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all. I will tease you a little here. In this book, you will learn, through a story (my favorite) of Anandamoyee Ma, the following:
What does God eat? Why does God weep? What makes God laugh? And what actions does God perform?
I am not going to tell you the answers. You will have to read the book to find them out.
