Field Guide to the Life and Times of Roger Conant

Rate this book
A highly entertaining review of the life and work of one of America's all time greatest herpetologists. Chapters basically function as individual short stories and cover all aspects of Conant's remarkable career from his early start in zoo work up through his years at the zoological institutions at Toledo and Philadelphia. Naturally, all of Dr. Conant's extensive herpetological work receives in-depth coverage as well, as do his many trips around the world. Much information on Isabelle Hunt Conant and Howard and Kathryn Gloyd, plus short vignettes of Conant's numerous herpetological and zoological acquaintances, colleagues and friends. This wonderful autobiography is fully illustrated with 31 color and 147 b/w photos, b/w drawings, vignettes of 25 herpetologists and 16 zoo personalities.
