One of the best things about 42 Rules of Employee Engagement by Susan Stamm is that because it’s 42 separate rules – so you can consume the material a few pages at a time. The book for me was a sort of flash cards, a collection of bits and pieces that I’d learned elsewhere that I was in some state of forgetfulness about. Although my interest wasn’t in engaging the employees I manage – I still found some nuggets of useful information about how to engage employees – and perhaps more importantly what breaks employee engagement.
Practical book on the basics of engaging your employees. Nothing earth shattering here, just reaffirmation that listening and being open to new ideas/feedback goes a long way for employees, as does simple recognition for a job well done.
Short but useful manual to take actions as a manager. Susan Stamm uses a lot of example of things she released while spending time with her family and explain how work place can be similar. All chapter are starting by a lived story, then explain the theory and ends with a Take action section.
