Day and Night in the Forest

Rate this book
Breathtaking wildlife illustrations and imaginative use of gatefolds make for an enchanting look into the sprawling life of a forest’s ecosystem, first by day then at night.

This beautifully illustrated new title for kids 7-10 explores the forest and all the daytime and nocturnal activities of the animals that inhabit it. The book features stunning illustrations of wild animals in their forest habitat during the day, followed by a section showing the different set of animals that inhabit the same scene at night.

Each day-night section has an introduction explaining the unique characteristics of the forest habitat and how the various creatures thrive within it. Each species is then featured individually in the pages following the gatefolds. Kids will be enriched and entertained for hours as they are pulled into the enchanting world of the wild.

The book is very educational, easy to read and gives you just a taste of what can be learned.

This is a beautiful book to introduce you to the wildlife of the northern woods although I wouldn't use it for any in-depth studies of those same woods. There are plenty of colored pictures along with two fold-out sections in larger detail showing various selections of animals - one during the day and one during the night - as they go around their business.

The book explains the types of forest and what animals you may see in there than goes ahead to proceed to give you a fact of that particular animal. And then when you get done with the four forest sections you are given a listing and numbering of those same animals so you can go back to the fold-out to find the animals. The only complaint I have on this is there is suppose to be a caterpillar in one of the day fold-outs but no matter how closely I looked I couldn't find it not even with the numbering.
