The premise for this omnibus (actually for the two related anthologies it contains) is very sound. Explorers? We love them. Far horizons? Yeap.
Unfortunately, the number of above-average stories here is very limited. This should serve more to demonstrate the evolution of science fiction over 50 years or so.
