It seems like a straightforward case for newly promoted DCI Paul Banham and DI Alison the murdered women all bore an uncanny resemblance to Marilyn Monroe and worked for a look-alike agency. But the enquiry soon unearths connections with a covert investigation into drug-running and people-trafficking. A new member of the team, uniquely qualified but inexperienced, is placed in a dangerous situation-made more difficult when love rears its complicated head! Can Banham and Grainger save her from the villains-and from herself? ""Enjoyable third police procedural to feature Det. Chief Insp. Paul Banham and Det. Insp. Alison Grainger. . . not only satisfying but especially poignant."" Publishers Weekly ""Good action, a professional investigation, and a heartbreaking ending make this UK procedural series worth a look."" Library Journal ""The plot is extremely complex and well developed, and the characters are beautifully portrayed. This is an altogether fascinating and absorbing book."" - I Love a Mystery
I picked this book up simply because of its reference to Marilyn Monroe. A succession of Marilyn lookalikes are murdered and it's down to DCI Paul Banham and DI Alison Grainger to solve the case. Although it was fairly readable - it lacked depth, tension (considering it was a murder mystery it was very mundane) and was borderline silly in places, cliched, and it was hard to feel any empathy with the main characters. Okay for light entertainment when you don't feel like concentrating too much!
