Pat G'Orge-Walker delivers a wickedly funny, uplifting novel of love and betrayal . . . good karma and bad karma . . . sin and redemption . . . Reverend Grayson Young and his wife Chyna have the perfect marriage. Perfect, that is, if you believe Reverend Young is walking the walk as well as talking the talk. For while the Reverend preaches about the evils of infidelity, both he and his wife are having so many affairs, you'd think the day of reckoning was at hand. And when Reverend Young catches his wife in the act at the fittingly named Sweet Bush Lounge, his faith and love for his wife are put to the ultimate test . . . Distraught, Chyna turns to her sister Janelle for guidance-the same sister whose man she stole years ago. But if Chyna thinks she's getting sympathy from Janelle, she'd better think again. Cordell was Janelle's first love. And even though Cordell and Chyna eventually divorced, Janelle still feels the sting of their betrayal. As far as Janelle sees it, what goes around comes around, so it's now Chyna's turn to be hurting. What follows are squabbling, chaos, and surprises that show how hard the road to salvation really is . . . Praise For Pat G'Orge-Walker "Ms. Walker pens a tale so funny that you'll fall out of your chair laughing, and so poignantly realistic that you'll wipe tears from your eyes . . . a must-read". -Angela Benson on Cruisin' on Desperation "One of my favorite writers of all time". -Zane, New York Times Bestselling Author "Christian comedy fiction at its best". - Library Journal on Mother Eternal Ann Everlastin's Dead
I always struggle with the first few pages of any book, but this book....after the third page I was hooked. Deacon daddy Pillar needs a book of his own lol. He made this book from beginning to end. I wish I had a deacon daddy who kept it real and told everything like it was straight no chaser and in the most holiest (and some unholy) ways. I love a good ending and even more when Gods miraculous ways shows throughout the book. I definitely had some jaw dropping straight into a mini praise break moments. I won’t spoil the book, but I think we all need a deacon daddy.
A Good Read! Daddy Deacon Pillar was hilarious with the his antics & his involvement within the church. This book reminded me of the church ppl back in the day, when everybody in the churches congregation were like family & everybody thought they knew everybody's business but their own...
What do you have when you have a bootleg gun toting preacher, sibling rivalry, ex husbands, ex lovers, nosey church sisters and frisky trustees? You definitely apt to get someone sinning in your bed! You gotta read this book by Pat G'orge-Walker but you gotta be alone because you will be laughing out loud at church folks who say the things you dared to think! There were times that I had to repent because I said to myself, "Lord knows I have thought that myself or worse I have done it." When I read this book I was almost certain that Pat had a spy cam in some of the churches I have been to or worse in the homes of some folks (who names had to be changed to protect the guilty). If you want a keep it real, life drama with a twist of humour, with a twist of redemption read. You gotta pick up this book and see how GOD works brings healing, forgiveness and justice from the least to the greatest. This one is a winner!
I LOVE THIS STORY BECAUSE WHEN I FIRST READ IT I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE A BORING READ.NOT! THIS BOOK WILL HAVE YOU LAUGHING CRYING,HAVING EMPATHY,ANGER,A SINCE OF BETRAYAL,AND TRUST.CHYNA IS HURT WHEN SHE FINDS OUT SHE LOST HER HUSBAND IN THE ONE PLACE SHE THIOUGHT HE WOULDN'T BE.HIS DEATH SET OFF A EMOTIONAL WAVES OF FEELING BETRAYAL.YA SEE CHYNA HUSBAND IS THE PASTOR OF A CHURCH ,AND SHE'S THE FIRST LADY WHO STAND AT THE HELMS WITH HIM.BOTH HAVE SOME DIRTY SECRETS IN THIER CLOSET,BUT HER HUSBAND DIED WITH OUT REVEALING HIS.WELL, IF THE CHURCH IF THE CHURCH ADMINSTRATOR HAS ANY THING TO DO WITH IT.I DON'T WANT TO GIVE TO MUCH AWAY,BUT I WILL SAY THIS IS A MUST READ..
This book gives new meaning to the story of the woman caught in adultery that was brought before Jesus to be stoned. Jesus said "he who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone first.".
The church members of New Hope Assembly had become so righteous in their judgement of others, particularly the First Lady, they could not see their own faults. They had the audacity to judge her and the younger members because they did not meet their ideas of holiness.
Pat G'Orge-Walker did a wonderful and funny job of teaching us, to look around our own doorstep before rushing to pass judgement on someone else.
From the first page to the very last, the characters will have you scratching your head (especially Deacon Pillar) and wondering what's going to happen next. You will experience so many twists and turns that you might liken it to a roller coaster ride of yet another potential church scandal.
Although it's fiction, everybody knows someone like each of the characters (whether you admit it is a different story). Somebody's Sinning in My Bed is centered around three and a half main characters and a strong supporting cast of two, living in Brooklyn, New York. The sisters that shared the same man and the church deacons who set out to expose or conceal them.
I know I can always count on Pat G'Orge-Walker for a church laugh. This was a slow read and it took me a while to finish. I think the best part of the book was about 3/4 way through when she introduced the character of Deacon Pillar, who was definitely a character. He definitely carried the story which somehow seemed a bit strained and did not flow as well as her other novels I have read. Nevertheless it was humorous and had some laugh out loud parts which is what I expect when I read her novels.
I love this author's technique in her writing. Pat G'orge-Walker will appeal to your love of what I call 'Azaleas'(color). I love the humor & the drama. It sports Laughter, tears, sorrow and fears. But I was really surprised by the religeous intonations! I found myself relating to some familiar situations and often found on my knees praying. I read 10 pages of this book and ordered the other four books advertized from Amazon. Thank You Ms. G'orge-Walker, I am Becci
This book is hard to rate. Her writing style is like no other. I saw great comments, laughed, and wondered where the book was going. Some parts I had to read three times, and others parts skimmed. I am debating between 3/4 stars. Hmmm. Don't get mad at me.
Rating 2.5 Finally!!!! I finished this darn book. OMG! I didn't think I was ever going to be through with this book. It's not that it wasn't good, it's just a hard read. It got pretty interesting towards the end. I really like the Deacon Pillar character, he reminded me of a male Madea. :)
Somebody's Sinning In My Bed by Pat G'Orge-Walker is about church folk gone all wrong. It gives the explanation of sweeping around your own front door before you try to sweep around someone else's.
