The Grammar is ideal for learners of all levels and is suitable for those involved in independent study and for students in schools, colleges, universities and adult classes of all types.
Features * lots of clear and up-to-date examples * clear explanations of grammatical terms * discussion of points which often cause problems * Greek/English comparisons and contrasts highlighted.
An Essential Grammar of the Modern Language will help you read, speak and write with greater confidence.
An excellent introduction to the Modern Greek language for anyone interested in learning about its grammar. While the content is very informative (and I was able to understand a good chunk of the example sentences by the end of it, unknown vocabulary notwithstanding), it is not didactic at all (it doesn't contain any exercises) and is full of linguistic terminology, so anyone with an interest in learning Modern Greek but who doesn't know what verb aspect or noun cases are should opt for a more beginner-oriented resource, such as Niki Watts' Colloquial Greek.
The authors have also worked on a book titled Greek: A Comprehensive Grammar, which I have used intermittently while reading this book. The Comprehensive Grammar, however, is a lot longer and more in-depth, focusing on a lot of minutiae that this grammar doesn't cover, and is therefore probably more recommendable for someone like a translator, a theoretical/comparative linguist, or a fluent speaker interested in having a more in-depth understanding of the language.
