This second volume in the catalogue of Greek and Roman glass in the British Museum spans the period from the early Iron Age to the 1st century AD when the Mediterranean world was under Roman rule. It deals for the most part with vessels that were not formed by blowing, although some examples of early blown glass have been included, most of which were previously thought to have been made by other methods. All the cameo glass, whether blown or not, is also included. More than 320 pieces are described and illustrated, including the Portland Vase, the Canosa sandwich gold-glass bowls and a fine series of mosaic glass vessels.
