Bernard Glemser was born in England, worked for the BBC, served in the Royal Air Force during WWII, and served as a Cultural Officer at the British Embassy. He became an American citizen after living in the United States for a decade.
My great-grandfather wrote this book. He served in British intelligence during World War II, so I imagine more than a little of this story is based on his own direct experience. The book is about a teenage boy in Nazi-occupied France who discovers a "fire bowl" in his village, and unwittingly becomes involved in the underground resistance. Quick read with a lot of thrills, and a cool time capsule on a personal basis.
