Ummm...what happened here? It started out pretty fun, with the typical Harlequin foot-stomping, shoot-first-ask-questions-later heroine spitting and ranting at the cold, cynical, Alpha tycoon whom she is accusing of destroying a magnificent Edwardian building to replace it with a modern monstrosity. Charlotte Lamb did this theme very well in her Sweet Compulsion.

I liked the secondary characters, from the heroine's co-workers to the small town's old biddies who get together to bring down the Goliath corporation that is taking over their town, to her down-to-earth parents.

The initial confrontations between the heroine and hero were pretty entertaining.

And then...it all fizzled out. The hero gets the flu and the heroine suddenly does a 180 and gives her best impression of Florence Nightingale. They fall in bed and then the hero starts with his push and pull. He even pretends that his sister is his slutty side piece to drive the heroine away. Eeeeek.

It was a good potential that was wasted in an ending that completely changed the characters and offered a resolution that seemingly was slapped on to meet an editor's deadline rather than offer an organic conclusion to this story.

"Reckless Crusade" is the story of Tamara and Jason.

Wow, this was a headache I could have easily avoided.

Basically, our h is an ex-model-cum-now-successful businesswoman, who runs a high end boutique. When property developer Jason tries to threaten her livelihood, she decides to take him on in a battle of egos.
Both fight dirty, until passion enters their dynamic..and WHOOSH- our heroine turns into a stepford wife from a fiery tigress. Oh and our strong, manly hero gets sick and what else will the heroine do, except abandoning her business and TAKING CARE OF THE MAN-BABY!

The characters were honestly BIPOLAR. WTF! One minute the hero is hell bent on seducing the heroine, next, he is running away. One second the heroine hates the hero, next moment- her horniness and lurve force her to give up her precious hymen away. ARGH!!

I should have avoided this based on previous reviews. EEEEGHHHHH.

Poor Tamara spends the first few chapters coming across as an irrationally cranky idiot, but improves when she calms down and settles into the more normal Wilson fluffy sweet heroine groove.

And in this one, the hero gets sick! Controversial role reversal!
