Truly an unfortunate and pretentious title. Added based on Woolfson's review of "How Life Works" by Philip Ball in the WSJ.

What a quirky little bit of history and insight. It is relatively easy to read, more for entertainment than research into the topic, but entertainment for the purpose of leading you to a point or undertanding. I doubt there is anything like it on the market so far on this subject.
