Dr. W. Graham Scroggie’s monumental study of the Psalms is now available in one volume, complete and unabridged. Scroggie provides an exposition of the psalms and examines its poetic form, outline, and historical setting. Also included are homiletical illustrations and devotional thoughts for the psalms. William Graham Scroggie (1877-1958) held pastorates in London, Halifax, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Spurgeon's Tabernacle in London. His extensive preaching and teaching ministry took him to the largest Bible conferences on three continents. He authored some 30 books. Scroggie was preaching minus the frills. While possessing a vibrant sense of humor outside the pulpit, his sharp wit was usually restrained within its vicinity. Instead words like ‘dignified’, ‘forceful’ and ‘intense’ are the adjectives more often reserved to the great Keswick expositor. He was born in Great Malvern. England and attended Surgeon’s Pastors’ College. He was forced to leave his first two ministries due to his opposition to liberalism but drew large audiences at Charlotte Chapel, Edinburgh, with his scholarly yet practical exposition of the Scripture. In 1927 the University of Edinburgh conferred upon him the degree of doctor of divinity. His later years were spent in itinerant ministry throughout the English-speaking world along with an unprecedented twelve readings at the Keswick Convention. His final years were spent as lecturer in English Bible at the Pastors’ College, London.
