Government Operative Gideon Bishop thrives on high-risk situations, but even his most volatile mission is nothing compared to coming face-to-face with his past. He’s spent the last four years trying to forget Tate Calder and their scorching affair, but the only way to get the information he needs is to keep her close—and keep his hands off her. Because the only thing riskier than protecting a woman who insists on hiding the truth, is giving in to the attraction that still crackles between them.
All Tate wants is a quiet holiday with zero interruptions from her family, and even fewer from the witch’s council bent on recruiting her. Instead, she finds herself on the run from lethal mercenaries and the police with the one man she never expected to see again. To protect her family’s secrets, she’ll do whatever it takes to keep Gideon from learning the truth.
Even if it means risking her heart to seduce him—over and over again.
A born and raised Maritimer, Sydney Somers fell in love with writing when she finished her first story, Jenny and the Glowing Green Mittens. After attempting her first book in high school, she set writing aside to focus on school. While getting her degrees in psychology and education, Sydney tried her hand at journalism between part time jobs before finally returning to her love of writing.
Twenty-five novels and novellas later, Sydney is thrilled to spend her days slaying demons, running with shape-shifter packs and making the people in her head fall wildly in love. When she’s not writing or curled up with a good book, Sydney can be found chasing after her herd of kids, talking her way into a gourmet meal, exterminating rogue dust bunnies or joking about the pending zombie apocalypse. She loves hearing from readers and invites them to contact her anytime.
Whatever It Takes: Spellbound Book 3 By Sydney Somers Kindle unlimited purchase Gideon and Tate hasn't been on a vacation in 4 years and this one is not going as she has planned. All she wants is a quiet vacation with zero interruptions from her family, and even fewer from the witch’s council bent on recruiting her. Gideon is looking for his friend, but what he finds is a lot more. I already rented book 4. I have enjoyed reading this series and have fallen in love with these characters.
The bad guy always turns out to be an ex partner or teammate gone rogue. I suspected it had to be someone close to Gideon that was killing his teammates. Everywhere they went the bad guys kept coming, they had to have a mole. Gideon was trying to hide what he did from Tate and she was trying to hide what she was. I loved the chemistry between them, how even though they were hurting, they couldn't stay away from each other.
Gideon Bishop, met Tate Calder fell in love with her, married her, and then divorce her all within a few weeks. Totally devastated, Tate had no idea why her husband left her. Both Tate and Gideon are keeping secrets from each other. Gideon is a government operative and Tate is a witch.
Four years later on a much needed vacation Tate reunites with her long lost husband. Where he has been and what he has been doing are a complete mystery to Tate. When she questions him, Gideon continues to stonewall Tate. Gideon tells Tate he is on the island to visit Beth, Tate's next door neighbor who was an old colleague of his. Hours later, Beth is brutally murdered and Tate is the one to find her body. For some reason Beth's killers have targeted Tate and its Gideon job to protect her. On the run and searching for answers Tate and Gideon are once again put to the test. Can they come clean and share their secrets with one another and find true happiness with each other? Can they solve the mystery of Beth's death without losing their own lives? Once again Sydney Somers has done it again. She has written total enthralling paranormal romantic suspense novel that just won't quit. Without a doubt Ms. Somers's books are very well written and a thrill to read. After reading Whatever It Takes, the reader will be dying to get a hold of the next book in the Spellbound series I know I will be.
Tate Calder had plans for a quiet staycation repainting her apartment and then, in the course of an afternoon, her hot and oh so mysterious x husband walks back into her life and she finds her next door neighbour brutally murdered. Now she's running for her life, coming to terms with feelings for Gideon which are anything but dead and trying to figure out where Penny, her neighbour and Gideon's colleague left the information to help Gideon figure out what went so horribly wrong in their last mission in Columbia. What Ever It Takes is a smart, funny third installment in the Calder Detective Agency saga. The story is a fast paced murder mystery and Gideon and Tate's story makes it hot, hot, hot. I've loved every one of the Calder stories I've read so far and this one was no different. Pick yourself up a copy and meet the Calders. I promise you won't regret it.
I am truly fascinated with the Calders, Lancasters and Hastings. Tate Calder is a fiery, independent, strong minded woman. Gideon Bishop is a scarred man, still yearning for Tate, but not wanting to hurt or disappoint her. Neither could resist the pull they had for each other, despite the hurt she felt from him. I truly enjoyed their story. It's action packed with a mystery murder to be solved filled with twists and a surprise of who the culprit was. And there is a secondary mini-love story included, so BONUS! This exciting story has only left me wanting more of these families and what their futures hold.
3.5 Stars. Whatever it Takes is the 3rd book in the Spellbound series but could easily be read as a stand alone book. I enjoyed this book and the characters. There was just enough mystery, suspense and romance. I do wish that Gideon would have had to work a bit harder to get Tate to give him another chance at the end but I enjoyed the romance and the plot. I didn't figure the villain out and enjoyed trying to figure out who it was. I also really enjoyed the secondary romance in the story (in fact I think I liked it even more than Gideon and Tate's romance).
