Revelation: The Birth of a New Age

Rate this book
A generation ago Teilhard de Chardin made a prediction that has now become a cultural "Like the meridians as they approach the poles, science, philosophy and religion are bound to converge as they draw nearer to the whole." It was a fanciful thought that Pere Teilhard had in those dark post-war days in Paris when le neant seemed to be the ultimate expression of Western civilization, but now it is exciting to hear the scientist and the mystic speak in similar terms. In his new book, The Survival of the Wisest, Dr. Jonas Salk puts forth a theory of individual and group evolution that is remarkably similar to the work of David Spangler.

This was once one of the most important books in my life ... In my youth, living in the Findhorn community, in Scotland, the author was a hero to me. I found him the wisest and sanest of the New Age teachers currently living.

And now when I am over 50? Now, I find the book very problematic indeed.

My blog here http://corjesusacratissimum.org/2012/... probably says it far better than I can here ...

Still, I will add that I see noble intention here - but also so much that seems to me - after digesting all my years in the New Age - as casually discarding, too casually discarding, the very things necessary for the survival of civilisation.

O David Spangler, you appear so sure about, and so committed to, a course of planetary regeneration, but I fear the price tag is just too high ...

An audio-visual presentation in 1974 in Portland, Oregon, by Peter Caddy, founder of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, followed by an avid read of this and three related books, sparked curiosity in me that was so strong that I couldn't not go there. Going there totally changed my life, and gave me life-long hope for a future for my kids and our troubled planet. The other three books are: "The Magic of Findhorn", "The Findhorn Garden", and "God Spoke to Me".
