The Forever Mountain: A Lone McGantry Western
ON A JOURNEY OF REVENGE, THEY MUST FACE THE DANGERS AND UNEXPECTED BETRAYALS ALONG THE WAY.
The dying request of an old friend sends former Indian scout Lone McGantry on a perilous journey from the barren Nebraska Sandhills to the ragged, snowy peaks of the Colorado Rockies.
Danger dogs his trail right from the start, beginning with a pack of vengeful brothers out for his blood. Along the way, Lone crosses paths with a gang of ruthless robbers and also learns that a bounty placed on his head by a misguided cattle baron is responsible for hired guns swarming the territory in search of collecting the pay-out …
The only bright spot in any of this is the companionship of an abandoned Oriental beauty with her own desperate need to reach the mountains. Lone's grudging agreement to escort her only adds complications, but it also adds a bittersweet hint of romance he didn’t know he was missing.

Returning home after events in the previous novel Rainrock Reckoning former Army Indian scout Lone McGantry finds his old comrade Peg O’Malley dying and vows to honour his good friend’s final wishes. After rescuing a young Chinese woman Tru Ming he finds himself with an unlikely trail companion on the way to bury Peg’s body on the Forever Mountain in the Colorado Rockies. Pretty soon Lone and Tru are joined on their journey by a couple of other down on their luck trail buddies, meanwhile a whole cesspit of villains, owlhoots and varmints are chasing after McGantry trying to claim a bounty that’s been foolishly placed on his head. But will the ones Lone grows to trust the most be the ones who turn on him when he least expects it? To summarise The Forever Mountain is another blazing saddle adventure of gunfights, gallantry and a dash of romance. The novel leaves the reader desperate to know what happens next in this thrilling western adventure by talented author Wayne D Dundee.

Some things just aren't meant to be easy!
Wayne D Dundee is one of the best western writers going around at this time. This is the third Lone McGantry story and like the others it doesn't disappoint.
This one finds McGantry on a quest to bury an old friend in the Rockies after the dying man requested it.
I guess some things aren't as easy as they should be.
The story is great, fast moving, and as always, well written. Once more Dundee has written a book that will entertain all readers.

When former Indian scout Lone McGantry returns from a business trip he finds his partner dying of wounds sustained in an attack by unidentified enemies who torched their cabin.
Lone vows to keep his promise to transport his friend's body into the high mountains so he can be laid to rest with his Indian wife. But first he must return to the ranch to assess damages and look for clues to who was responsible. There he comes under gunfire by a beautiful Asian woman holed up in the remains of the cabin. She has mistaken him for a group of cowboys who she'd driven off after they attempted to assault her.
The woman is also bound into the Rockies for reasons of her own, and they agree to team up for the perilous journey.
As they make preparations, Lone is forced into a gunfight with the cowhands, a situation with fatal consequences for several of them and which puts vengeful brothers on his trail.
This an absorbing tale with plenty of action, suspense, treachery and even a budding romance. The romance will have to be put on hold as Lone attends to other duties, but there's indication it might be resumed in a future book of the series. As always in a Dundee novel, the characters are well-drawn, the history accurate and the landscape so real you'll smell the sage and hear the gunfire in your imagination.
This is the second in the Lone McGantry series, but it isn't necessary to have read the first to enjoy the story.

Been fortunate enough to having had the opportunity to read several of Mr. Finder's great western adventure stories, but this new release of Lone McGantry is definitely one of his very best. No down time throughout this compelling western masterpiece!
Most definitely five stars worthy, as this is a fast moving rendition of realistic old western folklore adventures, and each new adventure is definitely an outstanding event of unending excitement! Lone continuously proves himself worthy, as he pulls no punches in his descriptive renditions of old American western justice, which maintains anyone's undivided attention throughout these exceptionally descriptive renditions of how I perceived our old West was finally conquered!
Outstanding storylines from beginning to end, and as always, Mr. Dundee's successful selections of characters were perfectly selected for their commanding assignments throughout this polarizing series of events! I found it hard to put this compelling series of unending exciting, and somewhat heartwarming, events aside until the final paragraph had been read!
If you have never read any of Mr. Dundee's successful releases, then these heartwarming adventures should, most definitely be the one to start you on the trail of following this compassionately motivated Author! You western folklore lovers will definitely be appeased with following this compelling new adventurous character, as he is definitely exciting in his outstanding efforts in American western folklore justice. Good book
Enjoyed this book mostly. Had trouble with the occasional use of my Lord's name in vain. The cursing can be shown in other ways without actually the words. Nevertheless I finished the book skimming over the offensive words. Liked the ending. Usually give a 5 rating as this author writes a great story.

Lone and his journey
Lone McGrantry had found out that his pardner Old Peg, had been killed. He would take Peg to the place where he wanted to be buried. But he would also have bring the Chinese lady named Tru to her uncle's house in Colorado. They may become more than just a traveling party.

The Forever Mountain
This was a good read that just seemed right in every way, there were no big heros but Lone and even then he wasn't shoved in your face. The story was smooth and easy to follow, and just meshed with ease.

Hope McGantry has a mission!
Hope had been gone quite a while. His partner had been shot and their horses were missing. The author did an excellent job of getting Hope through a lot of problems.

Perfect
Few stories are perfectly written - this is one of them: the (mostly) solitary man who does what is right - helping the downtrodden & dispossessed, often at his own peril.
I look forward to reading more stories of the exploits of Lone McGantry

Good solid western
Writing is not in the category of the old masters, but a good solid story and believable characterizations you can learn to respect. I'll read more.
