Series Carry On is affiliated with Treva Harte’s Alpha series; however, it is not a true prequel and can be read as a standalone title.
Ned didn't expect to have sex with Frank. After all, Frank is a cold-blooded hired gun -- hired to take over a murdered man's job and find out who killed him. Ned really didn't expect to have sex with Frank and MaeBelle, the owner of the speakeasy where Ned works.
But now that he has, Ned has a bigger problem. He doesn't know how to keep them safe from the were who is killing anyone connected with the speakeasy...especially when Ned may just be the were who's doing it.

Treva Harte lives near a city with many, many attorneys. Thanks to Loose Id and her writing, she can be a recovering attorney and now spends her time writing, editing, raising adolescents, taking care of an elderly mother and dealing with a hyperactive husband (who says he's just very energetic). She is also co-owner and Editor-in-Chief of the e-publishing company Loose Id.
She and her husband both like writing in whatever time they have left, so they often fight over—sorry, since he is still a practicing attorney they NEGOTIATE—keyboard time. No wonder Treva’s particular brand of sensual romance is a bit offbeat and usually mixed with fantasy. http://www.trevaharte.com/
Hmmmm. So I wanted to like this book, but I have to say it was just so-so. I felt like a lot was missing from the whole "were" aspect. Maybe because it's a "prequel" it just wasn't added to this story, but there were just too many gaping holes for it to work for me.
I also didn't buy Maebelle taking up so easily with her recently deceased brother's lover - and his lover - I don't care how open-minded she was. I kinda knew who the murderer was early on in the story although there was one twist there I didn't expect. We never got an explanation of how Frank was referred to Maebelle or how he knew about Ned being "were". I just felt like I ended up with more unanswered questions than I started with.
This was the first book I've read by this author. I've seen some other books recommended by others, so I think I'll give the Inside Out series a try and hope I like that better.
