It is so exciting to read a book that details my family heritage, from the shores of France, on to Bristol, England, finally emigrating to the British colonies, USA. My great grandmother, Julia Lamoureaux's final resting place is in Chester cemetary in Orange County, NY where I grew up. I think that anyone would enjoy the rich history of the Huguenot refugees and their struggles for religious freedom. I highly recommend this book.
This book was amazing to me because I am a direct descendant of the principle characters. My maternal grandfather's mother was a Lamoureaux. I was facinated to see how their lives influenced both my birth in the USA and also the spiritual seeking so many generations had before finding the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I loved the book and couldn’t put it down. It’s not about my family but my forbears were French Huguenots and they escaped to London. I have been researching my family tree and am continuing to do so.
I'm reading this book a second time as a reminder of my French Huguenot heritage. The main character in the story is my 7th great-grandfather. I love the faith and determination that my ancestors displayed as they courageously fled religious persecution. It is an inspiration to me.
