Following the history of the city of St. Louis, St. Louis: A Concise History begins with the "city hood" of St. Louis and gives detailed accounts of all the major events and locations in this great city's long history. From the mid-1700s up until today, Fr. Faherty tackles every part of the history of St. Louis.
This was what it claimed to be. A concise history. There was not much of a compelling narrative; rather, it was a series of people, places, and things that make up the story of St. Louis. To narrow over two hundred years of history into 145 pages is impressive and it lays out the basic information one would need. I would say this works as an introduction to the history of St. Louis and I would recommend it as one, but not the only, source someone could turn to for St. Louis history.
