This was what it claimed to be. A concise history. There was not much of a compelling narrative; rather, it was a series of people, places, and things that make up the story of St. Louis. To narrow over two hundred years of history into 145 pages is impressive and it lays out the basic information one would need. I would say this works as an introduction to the history of St. Louis and I would recommend it as one, but not the only, source someone could turn to for St. Louis history.
