Boyd Bradfield Upchurch has published a number of books under his legal name and many more under the pseudonym John Boyd. He retired to Deadwood, Oregon and continued to write stories and essays for the Deadwood Ditto up until a few days before his death after a brief illness.

In a way, kind of a pre-Civil War “Stranger in a Strange Land.” Certainly unpolitic today.
