A must–have! The 11th Edition of Access San Francisco is fully revised, updated, and now with more new sidebars and features. With Access San Francisco , your visit will be an easy, enjoyable experience – Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge and the winding roads that make this the most charming city in America are at your fingertips. San Francisco has been divided and organized into neighborhoods, so you know where you are and where you're headed. Unique color–coded and numbered entries detail each of the neighborhood's hotels, restaurants, attractions, shopping sights, parks and outdoor spaces. Large, easy–to–read maps show where each of these numbered listings are located – ensuring that you will instantly find what you must not miss. Access is your indispensable walk–around guide to San Francisco. Our writers live in and love the city, and they will lead you by the hand down the winding streets of each neighborhood, sharing with you the unforgettable sights, pointing out the little–known haunts, and revealing to you the splendor and magic that San Francisco has to offer. o Access fans and other travelers who depend on one single guidebook to provide them with comprehensive and practical advice on their chosen destination. o o Although Access is a favourite of business and sophisticated travelers, it is also widely used by people who live in the destination cities themselves, and it is particularly attractive to tourists as it guides them around the streets of the city, allowing them intimate access to it. o Neighborhood break–down system makes this the only guide that is able to lead travelers down the streets for a comprehensive tour. Especially useful for visitors who want the sights and sounds, and are also looking for that undiscovered gem, or who have just enough time to cover one of several choice locations within the city.o Access guides are the personal pick of locals, who applaud our inclusion of independent and local stores within their communities, and who often recommend us to their friends and newcomers to the city. Access guides are written and researched by professional travel writers who live and work in the city, and who are able to share content that a visiting writer on assignment can never hope to offer.

I've always enjoyed the Access series of travel books, in part for their seemingly unbiased recommendations, but also because they often include little out-of-the-way things you might not see on normal touristy routes. My wife and I have been to S.F. each of the past 3 years, and this book has been my handy traveling companion on each visit. It's well-designed and although it's 4 years old now, it hasn't really gone out of date yet.

I have the 5th edition, not the 9th, and I see they are up to at least 12. I love the access guides for up-to-date restaurant, etc. info by neighborhood, but I think I'd better get rid of 5e, and buy another if I am lucky enough to go again sometime!
