About the author

Alfred Price seved for 16 years as an aircrew officer in the Royal air Force where he specialised in electronic warfare and air fighting tactics.

He left the RAF in 1974 and thereafter he worked full time as a writer on aviation subjects.

He holds a PhD in history from Loughborough University and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

This is an adult picture book. Not a coffee table book- but rather a great collection of pics in B/W for the Military Enthusiast community, the Military history nuts, the Gamers and the Modellers who love to count the rivets and see the actual proof of every development in the types. In this role, with good little paragraphs explaining each pic, the book covers this ground very well. It's a good collection- and the depth and breadth of the pictures really does cover the span of the wholoe period- from Condor legion pics from Spain to some very nice Jet pictures from the end of the war. In between- a lot of interesting material.
From a great shot of the Heinkel 51, the "training-fighter" Biplane that many Condor Aces flew before ME 109s, through many ME 109s, Ju 88s, Heinkel 111s , Fw 190s, and Me 262, the coverage is great. But its the shots of the Naval Raiding Condors, the Arado 234B, and Me 323 , the more rare types that make this a real treat. Lots of good stuff to look over.
For the junior reader, any kid over 9 should be able to follow and learn. For the Gamer/Modeller/Military Enthusiasts, the true audience for this book- its a great resource. You'll certainly need another source of cogent prose if you want to understand the real history of the Luftwaffe, but these books are great for seeing the development of types and warfare over the whole war era. A qualified recommendation.

A very good, if somewhat random, selection of 119 Luftwaffe photographs with intelligently written captions. Some of the pics are well known ones, but even here the added info included in the caption gives a lot more insight that usual. Excellent.
