The bleak, biting cold makes February on Heather Creek Farm a test of endurance for the Slater kids. As winter wears on, Sam becomes more withdrawn and unhappy. Not even his new friends can shake him out of it. Meanwhile, Christopher is working on his entry for a local writing competition, and a Valentine’s day flower from a secret admirer lifts Emily’s spirits.

But when Sam sets out from the farm one night, searching for the father who abandoned them all, Charlotte has to face the painful memory of her daughter Denise’s own disappearance all over again. The family pieces together the clues to find Sam, and when Bob and Charlotte set off on a cross-country journey to bring him home, they need all the help—and prayer—they can get. This broken family needs God’s help like never before, but their trials remind them all that every sunrise is a new beginning.

I have loved each of these books. And while I struggle at first, with settling in with a different author for each book I find that it brings a bit of freshness to each part of the story. These are easy reads with no fuss. This family faces hardships and troubles just like most American families and go through it with the grace of God. I’m off to get the next one 🙂

It’s still cold and the grandkids are still having trouble adjusting to farmlife. Christoper is working on a writing competition and Emily is worrying about the school’s Valentine fund raiser and if she will get a flower. Sam is becoming more and more withdrawn worrying his grandparents and finally takin off without letting him know he has left. Bob and Charlotte go after him and finally have time to talk about the past.

It's winter in Heather Creek and the kids are facing their first winter on the farm. Christopher is writing for a competition. Emily is worrying she won't get any Valentine flowers at school. Sam is withdrawing and increasingly sad. Sam leaves in his car which is not equipped for winter travel and a storm is coming. Sam is heading to California to find his father. Charlotte and Bob go after him to bring him home. Trica Goyer is the author of Every Sunrise. Charotte still fears making the same mistakes with her grandchildren as she did with her daughter Denise. Will they find Sam and will they be able to convince him he will always have a home with them on the farm.

Love this series! This book kept me on the edge of my seat! Sam decides that he is going to look for his father, he doesn't want to live in Nebraska any more and plots how he can escape to go look for his father. His brother and sister, and grandparents, especially his grandmother, Charlotte are all worried and upset. Sam chose to leave during a winter storm in a car that has a lot of mechanical issues. Read the book to find out if Sam finds his father and are Bob and Charlotte able to find him.

I think I've read most of this series. Love Amish fiction and enjoy reading about the way the Amish live. That lifestyle wouldn't be for me (don't think I could do away with my modern conveniences), but enjoy reading about it.

While it is a sweet little story, that is all it is. To be fair, I didn't read the previous books in the series, but this book lacks depth and substance. It was a nice enjoyable read, just not much to it.

I did not enjoy this one as much as the first 6. It seemed like lots of the sections were not finished before we moved on to the next one. The book also ended really abruptly.

This was a super easy, modern fiction read. But given the genre, above average. My star rating is based upon the genre, certainly not equating all four star books with each other.

Valentine's Day looms and it's a big event at Sam and Emily's high school. Emily is wondering whether she'll receive a flower. Sam's been moody. Acting differently than usual. He's making plans and the family is wondering about him.

Bob and Charlotte experience something they're all too familiar with and Charlotte is wondering what Bedford's residents will think.

This one nearly had me in tears.

Another 5-star.

My heart went out to Sam with him leaving to find his father. It's sad when we get our hopes up for our parents to be someone they aren't. I hope the story has the children growing closer to their grandparents.

Don't worry if you haven't read the rest, it's easy to read this one alone! Tricia writes in an easy to read style that will keep you going!

Being from the prairies myself, I found this book very warm and full of the familiar. It will tug at your heart in more ways than one!

A visit with The Stevensons

This is the 7th book in this series. This one focuses on Sam the oldest grandson. He is dealing with 1st birthday without his mom and trying to find his long missing dad and finding "home". These stories get better and better.

Very Good. Sam runs away like his mom, Denise. But he is looking for his father.
