I had never heard this fable before and I think the retelling left out important details that made this particular book make no sense. On the back cover it says it is “retold without moral, especially for young children.” I assume the original version is a bit more intense. I’m not sure, but this book is centered around a fox trying to get grapes after a day of chasing animals, and he fails at getting the grapes. No deeper reason is given as to why he didn’t get the grapes. He gives up trying and the book ends. I’m interested in reading a different version, but I wouldn’t recommend this one.
It is so bad. At the end of the story the picture looks like the fox got the grapes and was happy but he didn't. He went back to the woods hungry and thirsty and everyone was laughing at him. Bad book.
