Rattlesnakes are supposedly helpful because they eat rodents that spread diseases. They also don't like to go out of their way to harm people. They grow about 2-3 rattles a year but lose some when they get between 7-11 years old. They live in the Americas, especially in Mexico. When encountering one, slowly back away and they should leave you alone.
