If you’re a sucker for romance read this book!!Happened upon this gem while going down an internet search rabbit hole. I started off looking at money from the 1900’s to looking at what you could buy with certain denominations, then what they ate back then, which led to cookbooks, which led to this complete treasure of a book.

The journal is of a woman who is married to The Captain. She writes only what she loves in this book and we must be sisters from another mister because she is fantastic! She has quotes and poems, shopping lists and recipes. Insights into her goodbyes and her family, the homecomings of The Captain and His Lady, and the culture. It is one of my favorite, favorite reads. So glad I happened upon this!

This was given to me by a good friend decades ago; I pulled it out and re-read it last week and was mesmerized. Between vintage recipes to interesting bits of a lifestyle long past, this book is one of the few paper cookbooks I've kept over the years.
