I’d give this a 3.5. There was nothing bad about it. It just didn’t blow my socks off. I think it would have been better had I read it quicker. But part of that was that it never hooked me.

The front part of this book is slow in it's reading so it's hard to keep going, but the second half is fantastic and left me with several bits of wisdom and practical ways to better listening. It leans heavily on acrostics which can feel a bit dated but was fitting for the time it was written. Grateful for the read, for the challenges it offered and the biblical insight it held.

Too many anecdotes, not enough meat. It seems overly simplistic, but I am hoping that will be a good thing and easy to implement!

This is definitely a book I will return to read again and review their advice on listening well and with intentionality. Very helpful and practical for every day life and relationships, as well as work situations. Highly recommend to those who desire to listen well to others, to have deep and meaningful relationships, and want to help others to work through potential conflicts and problems in their lives.

I'm teaching this class at my church starting next week and took the workshop in May. The class is based on this book about developing empathy, warmth, and respect and actively listening to people in order to build better relationships. Lots of great insights!

One of the best resources for helping one see how we practically counsel one another in a gospel-centered way.

This book is excellent! Each time I have read it I learn something new. It has helped me become more aware of how to relly listen to others as well as become more aware of what areasI need to work on in my own journey. This book should be a must read for everyone!
