3.5 stars. Good introduction for places to go in Connecticut, but I'm happier that I cobbled together my trip from this and other books. This book is very heavy on lodging and less so when it comes to things to do. There's a fair amount of history shared in the book, which I appreciate, but I wanted more about activities, events, and sites in each town.

Things I bookmarked: Appalachian Trail along the Housatonic River, leaf peeping along U.S. 7 from West Cornwall to Kent, the Hopkins Vineyard (we enjoyed the Red Barn Red, the Westwind white, and the Night Owl dessert wine), the Pine Knob Loop, and Mohawk State Forest.

An interesting explorer's guide and history of various regions in the state of Connecticut. There is travel information and a map for each region of the state. Finally, there are boxes of other pieces of interesting info., including: "Invented In", which provides a list of items invented in CT. some of these items are: Submarine, Cotton Gin, Colt Revolver, Sewing Machine, Can Opener, Pay Phone, Hamburger, Lollipop, Raggedy Ann Doll, Frisbee, Mounds Bar, Helicopter, Silly Putty, Nuclear Submarine, Wiffle Ball.

Connecticut's capital city is one of the oldest in New England, so it naturally boasts an impressive roster of firsts: country's first public art museum, oldest public park, oldest statehouse, first municipal rose garden.

There is lots to see and do for such a tiny state -- check it out!

I love these books - this is my 3rd addition. As a resident of CT. you wouldn't think I would need an explorer's guide. But CT. is full of amazing places and I want to experience them all! Throughout the summer me and my boys will pick a new town to discover/visit and we read through this guide to find out where to start.
