This is one of those tales intriguing dark tales that you will love.
Twisted Eros is a little gritty, a bit kinky, a little bit sexy and an interesting retelling of the Greek mythology Eros god of love and Psyche goddess of the soul.
When you have a workaholic, the boss, a vacation with a twist, a fantasy, and you have a woman who finds herself in the darkness of an unknown world of wants, desires and curiosity. It is a fun but twisted tale that is full of excitement, angst, drama and family and much more.
Kate is a workaholic, but she has her arm twisted to try something different for the vacation she is talked into. Only the vacation is not entirely what she thought.
These are complex characters and their relationships come with lots of baggage.
If you like elements of stories told on the darker side and sexy then you need to get hold of Twisted Eros and jump right in.

Kay is a business woman through and through, she is the rising star of her company and is involved in every decision be it small, or large and she is always thinking ahead, the only thing is that she is so good at her job, she feels that she can’t not be there, she has to be involved or everything will fall apart. This is where she struggles with her life, she is unable to switch off and her sisters are both annoyed by this and worried about her, so when they eventually persuade her to take a break, it isn’t one that is what you would call a stereotypical vacation, they have booked her an “abduction vacation” because that is the only way that she will rest, is if she is forced to do it.

When the morning comes for her vacation to start, she is extremely reluctant still and just wants to back out, however, her sisters are having none of it and they make her pack her suitcase and tell her the arrangements for the day, or at least as much as they can anyway, so when she hasn’t even left her apartment, she feels someone’s arm around her and before she can scream a hand is clamped over her mouth. The only thing she knows is that the person will be wearing a mask, will be tall and handsome and will be keeping her company for a whole month, so when they move to their secret hideaway, she is not allowed to see the journey, only feel the sensations of traveling and this is more disorienting than Kay expected and when she is allowed to open her eyes, it isn’t what she expected and neither is the man.

Eros is a man on a mission and his mission is Kay, but she isn’t what he thought at first glance and from the first interaction, he is thrown off balance and over the next couple of weeks, he intends to do the same to her, but when his perception of her shifts and she elves further into her darker desires, he is left reeling, but can this vacation give Kay the rest and relaxation she needs, or will the two twist each other around so much that they have no idea who they are anymore? This is a twisted romance in more ways than one and when hearts are on the line, feelings are raw and true intentions are hidden, inside a dark hideaway revealing more than either is willing to show, in this dark and sexy story.

Fantasy. My oh my. This is the first book I have read by Aria Skylar, and I could not be more entranced by the characters she has created. Primarily told through the perspectives of Kay and Eros (Erik) with a few chapters from Aphrodite, Erik’s mother.
Kay is the chairwoman that brought her mothers company back to glory after her death. Being a workaholic, her two older sisters Clio and Grace get her to agree to a month-long vacation. Not just any vacation, her addiction to work is so great she must be forced to leave so an abduction fantasy vacation was a win-win scenario. Eros, the mystery man, is her abductor and, in many ways, her true vacation. Quickly she finds that she enjoys the mystery around him but in time she hungers for more, more than fantasy things that make him a person. When asked to extend her vacation, to extend her time with Eros she says yes, only for her sister’s words to poison her mind into shattering the fantasy and the illusion of Eros.
A month later all is revealed, can Kay save the pieces that were her life? What will become of Kay and Erik? Why did she hate him Erik before the mask was removed? While the author has the story based in reality, the characters are very relatable it’s the degree to which she makes them multisided. Kay is a strong ambitious woman that longs for love and to feel wanted for nothing more than who she is not what she is in her career. Erik, while having been around more than most, has never had a connection beyond the physical. Both fill the deepest desires of the other without lessening them as a person but empowering them to embrace the darker sides of themselves. I look forward to reading more of her work and seeing what comes next in this new series.

Twisted Eros is Book One in the Modern Mythica series. It is an erotica romance full of raw, unbridled passion, explosive chemistry, lust, and role playing that will have you gasping to catch your breath. Kay runs her own business and has no time for fun, games, or relaxation. Her sisters decide that she needs time away and pretty much force a vacation on her. They feel that the best thing for Kay is to have an “abduction” experience where she can have fun and walk away afterwards with no-strings attached. Kay is reluctant but once “abducted” by Eros she finds herself relaxing, enjoying herself, and actually getting into the role of her alter ego, Pysche. Eros is more than her “abductor” and has sinister plans for Pysche/Kay that are being plotted out by Kay’s rival. What neither Kay nor Eros expect is to fall for each other during the kinky role-playing sessions. The result is a rollercoaster ride of love, lust, passion, angst, drama, betrayal, and revenge, as the two try to come to terms with their feelings and maneuver through the family drama. This book will leave your reading glasses fogging up as the steamy sex scenes build between Kay and Eros. The characters of Eros and Kay are wonderfully written, and you feel drawn to each for different reasons. Both have baggage they are carrying around and that is what draws them to one another. Eros has clearly had a rough childhood with a less than ideal role model in the form of his mother. A fantastic read from beginning to end!

Twisted Eros (Modern Mythica Book 1) by Aria Skylar - Review by Jessica Stone

This was a unexpected book to say the least. I had not planned to read this, but boy am I happy that I did. I have never read a romance where the dominant in the relationship was a woman, it took me a bit to get a feel for it but once I got to know Kay, our boss, dom, female main character, I was hooked.

The story was quite fast paced, I would love another book with some back story on a few other characters in this book, because though we only got brief glances into these supporting characters, what I saw was enticing. So here's to hoping this author chooses to continue with more from this world. This is the first of this particular authors work that I have read but it won't be the last, they're attention to detail and little quirks that she gives the characters on top of this unique story keeps the reader guessing and wanting more.

It might make me a little bit of a red flag, but the crazy that is Erik; the male protagonist is what I loved about this book, I love his back and forth push and pull, his seduction, and his being seduces, the relationship with his mother and all there was to this character was scarily relatable which made this story even easier to get sucked into. All and all, a terrific unexpected story, that's steamy, with a little backstabbing, a couple of surprises and a wholeeeee lot of relatable character content.

I’m not sure where to begin really, but I was absolutely gripped from start to finish by this intoxicating, gut-wrenching, heartbreaking and deeply emotional story. Just the premise was intriguing with the idea of an “abduction vacation” creating all sorts of images in my mind. But the kicker was that there was so much more going on than meets the eye. Though Erik seemed too soft to be the perfect abductor, it soon became apparent that he was a master at his craft. While his subtle manipulations were unobtrusive on their own, they slowly brought all Kay’s walls down. Kay was a fascinating mix of innocence and control as she explored her fantasies, discovering a hidden side of herself that seemed to set her free unhindered by societal conventions, while bringing Erik to his knees. It was sad to see how judgmental people are, especially concerning matters that are no one’s business but those involved, and once again proved that there are different standards for successful women than there are for men. While Kay’s sisters left little impression apart from being ungrateful, spiteful b*tches, I loved Zephyr and his unwavering support for both Erik and Kay. So, if you like your romance somewhat on the darker side, I can’t recommend this book enough.

This was a fascinating story. I was totally pulled in from the start. To see a controlling personality taking down a few pegs in a romance is quite interesting. To also see a retelling of the infamous Eros myth was different. This was a story that will grab you in because there are three main characters involved. He, she and Mom. That’s quite the difference in a romance. It was a new one for me. I found it different. The verdict is still out but the story was exciting and quite challenging. As a romance, I couldn’t put it down. It’s a must read for me. This was a fascinating story. I was totally pulled in from the start. I really enjoyed this book. It was a unique read to me. I haven't read a book like this before. The author does an amazing job with the characters and their growth during the story. Erik and Kay both grow and evolve in different ways but in a beautiful way that brings them closer.

I don't want to give to many details because I can't want to spoil the story. It is a story about passion, learning to embrace the person you are. It is a dom/submissive relationship but what I loved is that its fluid and it is when Kay becomes the dominant force that really allows Erik to be free.
There is so many twists and turns in this book that you wont see them coming and you will be constantly gripped.
What happens when your abduction vacation turns into you falling for the kidnapper? What happens when the time you spent free and embracing your true sexual self ends up destroying everything you've worked for? What happens when you realise who the kidnapper is? And is there any chance of forgiveness for this couple.

Twisted Eros was definitely just that, twisted. This book was alright. It got better at the midway point but I was struggling at the beginning. It felt slow and I was confused for a bit. Again like I said it did get better. I enjoyed the story the author was telling.
Eros/Erik and Kay have a strange and sorted past. One where Erik’s mom is very much involved in. A twisted plot of revenge that involved way more parts than expected. Duped into an abducted vacation, Kay has no idea what’s coming her way. It’s the way the author wrote how she persevered was what made me like her character.
Erik is damaged goods. However he just couldn’t resist.
What happens when Kay tries to get too close?
How does she redeem herself?
The author wrote a story that showed amazing growth for the female lead. It also displayed healing for the broken male lead.
if you enjoy twists and turns check it out. It might seem to start off slow, but stick with it. Trust me when I say you’ll be happy you did in the end. It seems to be the promising start to a new series.

Kay is a control freak. She owns her own real estate company and runs it like a boss. Her two flighty older sisters convince her to go on an abduction vacation to help her unwind the tight coil of her control issues. Erik is the guy that gets to abduct her and keep her for a month. He has raging mommy issues. That wouldn’t be so bad if it were not for the fact that what I thought was a story about two people became a story about three. Mom was in the picture the entire time. Cringe.

The story had zero spice appeal. I’m ok with that. I didn’t mind the vanilla descriptions. But I did mind the over-the-top psychoanalysis Kay and Erik kept lobbing at each other. I never became invested in the happiness of either character. By chapter 9 I was ready to start skimming chapters. But, I didn’t. I ready every page hoping it would get better. It didn’t.

"He understood her own lonely childhood in ways she had never spent the time to examine."

I read Seducing Dionysus last year and it was literally one of my favorite books of the year. I signed up for this Arc without reading the blurb just because Seducing Dionysus was so fantastic. I was super suprised to discover that unlike Dionysus, this book isn't a rockstar romance.

Am I disappointed? Not even a tiny bit. Twisted Eros is almost as fantastic! Kay and Eros are amazing main characters. They are both complex and interesting, not to mention their chemistry is off the charts. Eros, like Dion, is a bit mysterious but I had hoped he would be. These books have a certain vibe that makes me feel I'm living in a real fantasy world.

It's hard to talk about it without spoiling the story and I refuse to do that. I just really recommend this book and Dion's as well. I truly hope Aria is planning more of these amazing books. I need more of this in my life.

This is a very clever modern retelling of the Eros and Psyche myth.

Kay, who ends up playing the part of Psyche, is in need of a relaxing holiday. A mysterious man (Eros) is employed to spend time with her and never reveal his identity. As the myth goes, they fall in love but Kay's sisters get jealous and tell her to discover her mysterious lover's identity. When she does Kay's world is turned upside down. Meanwhile her sisters have managed to destroy the family business and Kay has to seek help from unusual sources to help save herself and whatever feelings remain for her mysterious lover.

Thoroughly enjoyed this because it's not my usual read. It's extremely well written, bursting with unforgettable characters and holds true to the original myth. Obviously an expert at work here! If you're a fan of Greek mythology and want a modern twist on the tale you will adore this story!.

This was a really interesting retelling of the Eros and Psyche myth, seen through an extremely dark lens that at first glance seems off-putting, but as the story begins to build everything slots together in a very satisfying way. What I really liked about this tale is that in this retelling neither the protagonist or her love interest were without heavy flaws, and those flaws got me invested in seeing if these two would figure out their baggage, get their selves together, and make their own happy ending. They don't figure it all out, not entirely, which is absolutely true and real. And even their ending isn't 'perfect' - which is exactly how the story should end. I'd love to see how Kay and Eros manage to get on in the future!.

I was drawn in by the cover and by the time I read the synopsis I was sold. Twisted Eros is the first book in the Modern Mythica series, and it is a steamy start! I love that it is a bit darker with twists and turns. I didn’t want to put this down at all, so I read it in a single day! Kay is such a strong female character and seems to have everything she could want in her professional life. While we all know that vacations are absolutely necessary, her sisters book an extra special month-long vacation for her. Will this vacation with a smoking hot stranger show her a side of her she never knew existed, or will she just end up longing to get back to her successful career? I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the second book! I highly recommend giving this book a read especially if you love spicy romances.

A contemporary romance playing on the tale of Eros and psyche. Modernized to show a strong female lead that is deceived by her sisters. Kay is the head of her family’s company that’s worked hard to keep it this way seems to have caught the wrath of Aphrodite. (Although it’s unsure why she caught the wrath till the end of the story. ) unbeknownst to Kara and her sisters. They purchase an “seduction abduction” vacation package to whisk Kara away for a month long trip.

Plotting behind this scheme is Aphrodite to take control over their company. While away on vacation erik and Kay bond deepening their relationship and pushing the bounds / limitations of the contract. Till everything comes crashing down.

Does Kay have what it takes to overcome Aphrodite’s wrath? Will her sisters gamble everything away?

This is a reinterpretation of Eros and Psyche. It is a fantasy abduction vacation that Kay is forced to take. Kay is a workaholic boss woman. Eros is her hired masked abductor. It's quite the hot fantasy. The vacation is supposed to last a month. However a alternate game is at play that Kay doesn't know about. When Kay finds out the truth will she ever forgive Eros? There are also a lot of complex relationships going on in this book. There is certainly a twist at the ending. I liked the book club questions at the end of the book. Even if your not in a book club it's nice to stop and think about these questions. I wish more books would include questions like this at the end.

Twisted Eros is the first book in the Modern Mythica series and debut novel by Aria Skylar. This is a retelling of the Eros and Psyche myth with a modern twist, some darker elements, plots, agendas, chemistry, sizzle, drama, angst, family, and more.
Kay’s life revolves around business. She has no time for anything else. Her sisters practically force her to take some much-needed time off, suggesting an ‘abduction’ experience for some no-strings fun. But with the abduction comes plenty of unexpected twists for Kay- and things soon take a bit of a kinky, dramatic, and intriguing turn.
I enjoyed reading the start to this new series which looks set to be both fun, and a little twisted. Looking forward to ‘Seducing Dionysus” (Book #2).
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Aria Skylar!

Erik is Aphordite's son, and her personal weapon to use when someone or something does not go according to her ideal. In a corporate world, if a woman wants to hold and keep her power, she must use the guns of information at her own discretion.

Kay inherited actions from her mothers company, just as her 2 sisters: Grace and Clio. Even when Kay is the younger of the trio she was responsible for making everything work, so that leaves her without a life of her own. Having to develop fully into the role of a CEO and director board Kay lacks the social basic skills to meet and keep a steady romantic partner.

Kay's sisters saw this, decided to give her a month of a special treat of vacation, little does Kay know how her destiny is about to change.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I absolutely loved it. I love a good paranormal romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This book is the first book in the modern mythica series and I’m now hooked. I could not put this book down until the end and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Kay has it all: a job she loves, friends that are alway there for her, and a loving sister. She has been working too hard so her sisters book her a very interesting vacation. Kay booked a vacation called the abduction vacation for a month. She is excited to be controlled by a very handsome man wearing a mask but will she like how dark the world can be? Will Kay get her dream vacation or will it turn into a nightmare?

Twisted Eros lives up to its title - it is definitely a story with twists and turns. Kay is convinced to take a vacation by her sisters where she is abducted and held ‘captive’ for a month in order to completely unplug. This story is intriguing and twisted. I found it interesting to see the process of Kay detoxing from her phone and feel it is probably pretty accurate. I do feel the storyline about her sisters is not quite fleshed out - there was not quite enough information as to why their relationship was the way it was. Also, there is some mention of self-injury that could be triggering for some people. Overall, I enjoyed the mystery of why things we happening and who exactly all the players were. If you like your books a little dark and twisted, this is a good choice!

Right from the moment you start reading, this book has so much more to it than expected. I thought I would get hot and sexy and I thought I would get strong chemistry between the characters. What I didn’t expect was to also get a complex story that pulled me in instantly. There is a lot more going on in this book than I originally thought which is supported by strong and fascinating characters.
This is a new author to me and I enjoyed how they combined the mythical with the modern. It was a clever take on a well known story and it is one I thoroughly enjoyed. I am looking forward to whatever is next.

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed reading. It is a well written story about what happens on an abduction vacation and one steamy stranger. A romance story where the characters pull you into their world from the first word. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story. I enjoyed how the author used details to bring a realistic feel to it. The characters are fun, steamy, engaging and made the story for me. They had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. I enjoyed their story and wanted to see them have a happily ever after. You don’t want to miss this story. I highly recommend this book.

When I started reading this, I didn’t realise it was the start of a series with modern tellings of ‘myths’. Now I know, I’ll be keeping my eye out for the others, I love a good retelling.

This follows Kay’s journey of learning to let go and betrayal and Erik coming to terms with who he is. I enjoyed how their chosen names reflected the Greek ‘myths,’ it was a nice touch for the modern aspect.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style; it was easy to follow and clear. The dialogue was believable, and I felt for the turmoil Kay and Erik must have been feeling.

I look forward to more works by this author.

I literally couldn’t put this book down. I absolutely loved it. From the Characters, to fantasy of being taken and given into your desires. I felt drawn to Kay because we share similar issues… Working so much and not giving yourself a vacation or just some down time. It can hurt you more than anything. Erik (Eros) reminds of someone that I can’t have. He is everything to me until he isn’t but even then he is so much more then I could have ever imagined. I can’t wait to read another book by Aria. I use to think that I would never like books like this but I do. Grant it, its’ nothing like my mom’s romance, fantasy books which is something I would never read.

This is a unique modern retelling of Eros and Psyche from Greek Mythology mixed in with some interesting characters and plot twists. Aria Skylar has an easy-to-read, flowing writing style that will draw you into the story and make you feel a part of it. The chemistry and growth between the main characters is definitely something to behold. The secondary characters are very well written as well. I truly enjoyed the banter between Kate and her sister, it reminded me of myself and my own sister. Can love develop and be accepted despite darker motives or intentions? Find out for yourself in this start of an intriguing new series.

This was a good 4 star read. I was pulled right in by the author's writing. It was a dark and twisted Greek mythology. This was very interesting for sure. Kay agrees to let her sisters arrange a vacation for her, but it isn’t your usual vacation. Eros is mysterious and Kay finds herself wanting more from him. We get some very steamy moments that will leave you feeling very warm, we also get drama, betrayal and so much more. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right into the story. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I look forward to reading more from her. 1-click and get started today.

Twisted Eros
By: Aria Skylar

I will say, this is not the normal book that I would pick up. As a general rule, I don’t pick up paranormal romance books. But something in this one called to me. This is a retelling of the story of Eros and Psyche. Which is something I did not pick up on when I got this book. It was slow to pick up but once it got going I really enjoyed it. I definitely haven’t read any Greek Mythology that features BDSM, but this retelling sure does. The author proved some major character development in both of the main characters - Eros and Psyche. Which I think is the best quality of the book, the character evolution. I definitely enjoyed this story.

I was pleasantly surprised by this story. With the title and the cover, it is easy to assume that it would be one big BDSM fuckfest from start to finish. Instead, there is soul searching, corporate espionage, and yes ... a lot of sex to fill that smutty hole in my soul, lol!

I've read darker books but this book focusing more on the talkies is not a bad thing for me. In fact, I find it a refreshing change.

★ “But then things get darker and dirtier.” ★

—>>> Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars - This was definitely a twisted story, which began innocently enough with Kay’s sisters purchasing a one-month-long abduction experience for her from Nyx Fantasy Inc. Kay’s persona morphs into “Psyche” as she explores her desires with Eros at the location, relishing the freedom found at his insistence. As the story is told, Kay’s curiosity has her digging into Eros and what makes him tick. But he may be just a man at the end of his tether...
