The Shadow Horse

Rate this book
Originally a short story, THE SHADOW HORSE grew into a book with the help of Dr. Hap Gilliland, chairman of the Council for Indian Education, who edited and advised me in the writing. The story tries to authentically portray Indian life, past and present. Events and localities, though fictional, are realistic. Both THE SHADOW HORSE and its sequel, SHADOW'S RUN, have been well received in elementary schools as well as by parents and other adults who like a good clean western adventure story. There is plenty of action, but no excessive violence. Humane treatment of animals and non-violent horse training and handling is stressed. This is good family reading.
