He wrote a number of influential textbooks, and was important in the development of the theory of instinct and of social psychology in the English-speaking world.

I consider this one of the most important philosophical works which I have ever read. I know I missed a lot on my first pass through, so I have begun and intend to reread it at least two more times; each time hoping to fill holes in my understanding. God rest your soul, Dr. McDougall.
