This had wonderful information on its topic my main problem is that it ends up feeling extremely anti-fool at the end and very very Christian, for worse. I wish I could know more about this author. The christian-ness of it wasn’t even necessarily a problem at first because it allowed for a lot of interesting and nuanced information on folly in the Middle Ages. I also had the pleasure of reading a first edition from 1932 with all kinds of markings from previous readers, something I DEEPLY enjoy.
Overall, I loved the information but did not love the sudden denunciation of folly at the end really took a guy by surprise.
