Her Heart & His Crown
Pilar Harrison, a free spirit, product of a deadbeat dad, and crackhead mother, moved away from Mount Olive, MS to Florida after her college graduation and the death of her grandmother. Pilar thought that life in Florida would be great since it is nicknamed, The Sunshine State, but little did she know, dark clouds would surround her after getting involved with Brandon ‘Blizzy’ Lewis, who had his own set of women and gambling.Barak ‘Duke’ Ramses was a native of Egypt and next in line to be crowned King. At the age of 16, his father dropped him and his younger brothers off in the United States in an effort to make them men and find their own way. Duke made a way for himself and his brothers after opening a chain of pool halls. After Blizzy, one of his faithful customers and best friends, started stealing money from the company and the customers, putting the Florida location in jeopardy of being shut down, Duke sends one of his brothers to take care of Blizzy, not knowing that Pilar was only inches away and witnessed the murder.After being caught and begging for her life, Duke spares her, but not before putting a strict detail on Pilar, making sure she doesn’t go to the police. Pilar gets fed up with being followed and ends up moving into Duke’s house, against the wishes of one of his brothers, who also thought that he was not fit to be King.After getting to know Pilar personally, Duke starts to develop feelings for her, but he can’t act on them due to the secrets that he has. Will Duke risk it all and act on his feelings for Pilar, or will he walk away and leave behind an affair that could lead to something special?

I have very mixed emotions about this read...
The b word is a bit to freely said in a derogatory way. It took a moment to fully understand the main characters but it's a love hate thing for me for both. I feel like that baby belongs to his brother or dad and I hope Charlie ends as her brother... just thoughts. I will be read book 2 as I am full vested in this ...

Beautiful soul
Pilar is a beautiful soul who has overcome a lot in her past. She doesn't let anyone scare her or belittle her. Her and Swan have the best friendship/sisterhood that I love. Now, Duke is wrong on some many levels and he's setting everyone up to get hurt, despite his promises. I have enjoyed reading this story so I'm definitely ready for what's next.

Pilar and Duke are a fav of mine! Duke tripping for stringing her alone!!! He should’ve been honest. She could’ve handled being is bed toy versus him hurting her. The bed that elevated…oh yes! The daddy…hate him! Can’t wait for part 2!

Wow what is really wrong with men. Duke knows how broken Pilar is but he still has lied to her. I really hope she and her girls don't go to the engagement party they will probably be beheaded. Can't wait for 2
