While cleaning out recently, I came upon this book my mother gave me when I began nursing school in 1966 at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. My mother must have read it when first published in 1952. I so enjoyed Morgan's tales of her training and of her tired feet. They worked long shifts and lots of days. It was a blast from the past to read about nurses smoking in their lounge in the hospital. That doesn't happen anymore! The story of the G.I. she meets during WW II is truly remarkable. Her writing brought back many memories to me of my career in nursing.
