Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. أسلوب المؤلف مستفز من كمية الغرور والتكبر والغباء في ذات الوقت، ولذا بالكاد كنت أقوأه حفاظاً على سلامة أعصابي، وزاد الطين بلة المترجم والمحقق الغاضب الذي أثقل الحواشي بتعليقاته الشخصية الغاضبة والمكررة! كان بإمكانه التنويه في المقدمة والقاريء سيفهم بالطبع، لكنه استسهل وأثقل الكتاب للأسف مع جودة الترجمة.
الرحالة ليس فطنا بما يكفي ليكتب ملاحظات جيدة أو معلومات مفيدة عن المنطقة والناس إلا في مرات قليلة، لانشغاله بهدفه التبشيري وسذاجته وكذبه بإدعاء انفتاح الناس تجاهه وتغييرهم لمواقفهم من الشدة للين وقبولهم للانجيل الذي يوزعه وقصة الطلاب الذي دعوا له! كان يكتب للقاريء البريطاني المتكبر الساذج حتى يدفعوا تبرعات للمبشرين حتى يسيحوا في الأرض، أو لمجرد إشعاره بالسرور ونجاحات دولته وكنائسه، لذا يمجد نفسه وأفعاله مع أنه لم يغير أحد دينه خلال رحلته، ولا سراً حتى! ولا بعدها كذلك!
هناك معلومات عن الناس والمنطقة والشخصيات والزراعة وغيرها لكنها قليلة ولم أرى فيها إضافة، اويتتنج وهوبر زاروا المنطقة قبله بمدة ليست طويلة، لكن في نفس المرحلة الزمنية ومذكرات اويتتنج غنية بالملاحظات والتفاصيل والرسومات، لكن يشفع للكتاب الصور الفوتوغرافية وان كانت دقتها ضعيفة لبعد الزمن

A very good missionary biography. Forder is pretty headstrong and maybe a little oblivious at moments—but then, what missionary isn’t?
What makes this story valuable is that he pioneered among the Bedouin in present-day Jordan, and made visits to rural areas all over the northern Arabian Peninsula. Almost no missionary work was being done in most of the areas he visited, so that his accounts and his depictions, for the time in which they were written, were almost wholly unique.
In terms of day-to-day life, Forder did medical work, often aiding wounded Bedouin after tribal skirmishes. He also distributed Scriptures.
Later books show how he pioneered a new mission among Palestine’s Bedouin (based in Jerusalem).
