What a melodrama!!!! Can tell it was written several years ago, but don't know when...there's no date in the book. I got it out of the library because I thought it would be what the title said "A stoyr of the early pioneer days of Lancaster, Ohio and the Hocking Valley".
What I found was a very melodramatic story of a girl who was taken by the Indians and rescued by a boy who loved her and an old mountain man. Don't know if it is based on a true story or not, but it reads like the captions from an old silent movie.
I'd heard about this book for years but had never read it. I reluctantly decided to read it because it met one of the requirements for my 2015 Reading Challenge which is to read a book that takes place in your hometown. I decided I'd get this one out of the way early on. I was so surprised to discover that it was rather fast-paced, and I really enjoyed it. Not at all boring like I had thought, especially since books about Indians aren't my thing.
