From Cohen to Carson: The Poet's Novel in Canada

Rate this book
Ian Rae argues that Canadian poets have turned to the novel because of the limitations of the lyric, but have used lyric methods to create a mode of narrative that contrasts sharply with the usual novel conventions. He includes case studies of novels by Michael Ondaatje, George Bowering, Daphne Marlatt and others.

A must read if you are studying Canadian literature and more specifically the "Canadian Long Poem" and authors like Michael Ondaatje, Daphne Marlatt, Anne Carson and many others. Ian Rae is a brilliant professor teaching at McGill University and an expert in the field.
