This book is a collection of articles, as José Domingo Sosa prefers to call them, that revolves around a question that very few of us dare to raise: What is life? As we can see it is not a trivial question. On the contrary, it takes a lot of courage and discipline to go into such an inquiry.
And that is precisely what José Domingo (JD) does by bringing together in this book a collection of his reflections and studies that try to answer this concern. Each one of these articles deals with a relevant aspect treated with great seriousness, deep study, and above all, honesty that touches different edges of life and that at the end of its reading, will form a path along which we can walk and find the keys to try to solve this problem. JD will introduce us to the ideas of distinguished thinkers who have posed this question before: Plato, Schopenhauer, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Freud, Jung, Heidegger, Tillich, Montaigne, and others who will not leave us indifferent. Each of these articles is a “bite opener” or, better said, a “mind opener.” However, JD takes us by the hand to walk these paths, already traveled by him, with great knowledge and mastery of the sources that support his reflections so that later we have this base to walk our own path towards a well-founded answer.
We may or may not agree with some of his arguments, but in any case, we will be obliged to respond with the same seriousness, honesty, respect and knowledge with which these texts were written. In reality, they are an antidote to the superficiality and frivolity to which the world of mass media and popular culture have accustomed us.
This is a recommended reading for anyone who is not satisfied with easy answers and is deeply interested in improving his/her life.
